Ultrasound Healthcare Assistant

The Ultrasound team at Beehive Healthcare is actively looking to recruit a Band 3/4 Radiology Assistant to provide a high standard of care to patients, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the Ultrasound clinics across the Essex region. Clinics are based at Basildon, Brentwood, Thurrock, Chelmsford and Southend.

The role of Healthcare Assistant is centred on providing an excellent level of patient care and organisation during busy scanning lists. You will assist the sonographers and the Radiologists during these lists and prioritise the workload.  You will help provide an exceptional service in clinics by assisting the patient throughout their examinations.

  • Prepare the examination room at the beginning of each list, ensuring linen is clean and the room is tidy and fit for purpose.
  • Ensure all equipment is setup and connected before the day list starts.
  • Ensure all documentation is present and correct prior to the list beginning.
  • Ensure examination rooms are fully stocked of consumable items and replenish as necessary.
  • Report / order when supplies of consumables are low.
  • Ensure examination room is kept tidy between patients.
  • Patient preparation for ultrasound examinations.
  • Working closely with the appointments team to ensure all sessions are used optimally.
  • Keep patients informed before, during and after examination, including how and where to get the results from the examination.
  • Be aware of risks related to communicable diseases and procedures.
  • Maintain effective communication with all disciplines of Clinic staff.
  • Communicate with other staff throughout the clinic and back office in a polite and effective manner.
  • Communicate with patients in a respectful, polite and effective manner – this may include those whose first language is not English or who have difficulty understanding due to their medical condition.
  • Enter patient details on the scan machine and the laptop.
  • Download scan images from the scan machine and store on laptop portal.
  • Upload images to Sectra IEP image portal via the laptop.
  • Ensure clinic is left in clean and tidy after the clinic session.
  • You will be required to be car driver as you will need to take the laptop size scan machine and laptop with you to be brought back to the next day clinic.
  • You will setup all equipment prepare room ready for Consultant to arrive and start the scan list.
